The final phase of the little jewelry armoire project is the addition of the beautiful BUGS and some beautiful jewelry that they are are flying around with and admiring.
OF COURSE these bugs could not, and would not, fly around with heavy gem jewelry or strings of pearls with their little arms and legs. But they are in an enchanted tropical forest at night!
Everything becomes possible.
This is a great opportunity to use all my metallic and interference paints. I have had a great time mixing a wonderful variety of metallic colours, mixing many different golds with unpigmented colours to make golden, or coppery greens, pinks, blues, yellows... and to paint the gems and pearls.
I particularly like this little moth!

Having quickly wrapped up the chairs and the Baby Cabinet, now I am able to return to the little jewlery cabinet.
On the table you can see the piece of my painted fabric that was the inspiration for the colour and feel of this piece.
I did end up using a little too much of the hot colours- the reds and yellows... In good time, the client was able to remind me that one of the ideas she was very excited about was the quality of the darker indigo and purple tones that made her feel like the leaves and flowers were shining in the dusk. I was able to quickly add more dark blue and violet, to the front of the piece, painting over the orange that somehow was taking over the front and and some other areas. No harm done!
On this new blue area, I will add the gold and swirls, to add a lot of pattern and dimension before I add the leaves.
The last step will be the bugs flitting magically amongst pieces of jewlery in this tropical woodland.

Crackle!
In the end, my clients decided they would like to have the baby furniture crackle finished. The crackle added an antiquey, ''Old Timey" feel to the piece that is really quite attractive, and adds depth.

A steady stream of painted furniture......
...makes its way through the studio!
It is a charming confection of sugary pastel colours, very enjoyable to paint.

In the meantime:
Here is the cabinet for the new baby of my clients;
...hopefully I will have it completed before the client's child has arrived!

In the meantime:
....these chairs needed to have their back panels painted too!
