1st Kiln Firing: 2008!!!!!

A tremendously successful firing! The kiln was chock full.... The kiln fired hot and fast last night, lending a soft, textile-like feel to much of the underglaze painting.....

Everything turned out great......

This will be the first of many similar posts, over the next few weeks, as I add to the pottery inventory, for 2008.

As soon as I inspected everything, and was thrilled, I couldn't WAIT to get back to work!!!

Pottery Painting

This is what I am sitting in front of, every day these days...welcome to my office.... Although by this time in my career, I pretty much know exactly what colour a given underglaze will yield, and I freely mix colours, it is helpful from time to time to remind myself of some of the nuances in some of the shades I use less frequently, or to remind me which colours are almost the same. For that purpose I have a few colour swatch tiles.
These are decorated and glazed plates, ready for the kiln:
And these are decorated and glazed mugs and bowls ready for the kiln:
I am planning to load and fire the kiln this afternoon, with results tomorrow or next day, here on this blog!
Stay tuned......

pottery work beginning

Here you can see the first few mugs being painted for the upcoming "winter ceramic season".

Early days! But any day soon, I will have enough for a kiln load and viewers of this blog will be seeing the results, and lots of colour and pattern! I have some great ideas for the new models.

Fabric For Window Treatment

On the table here, two pieces of custom fabric for window treatments. They will be made into panels for two powder rooms that feature a lot of granite and stone.

These photos are taken before the fabric was heat set and washed, so you can still see some of the chalk used to delineate the pattern before painting. The chalk washes away so easily.
I hang my fabric out side to line dry, and it was just too hot out there in the middle of the day to do a photo shoot!

I will post photos of the fabric hanging in place when the panels are installed!

Swivel Stools

Now I am working on these 3 swivel chairs...Oh my goodness, lots of legs!
In fact, now the legs are DONE (legs are very tedious, and these are heavy chairs to lift about), I can have fun with the larger area of the seat, and to some extent the arms and backs.

Small Art Deco Table Gets A Bright Future

I painted this little table to be very thick with paint, almost as if it were covered in sugar icing.
It's bright and charming. Its got a cool little secret hiding place, a shelf underneath, too!

This table is for SALE. Please contact me for more information, or go to http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6134415

Painted Chairs

These chairs are available for SALE, seperately or as a pair. Please contact me if you are interested or go to http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6134415

There is something very satisfying about painting a wooden chair with whimsical patterns and bright colours!

These chairs are not exactly a pair, but they certainly ''match''.
